Last month, a court ruled in favor of Lee Boo-jin, the eldest daughter of Samsung Group chairman Lee Kun-hee, who filed for divorce from her husband Lim Woo-jae, former vice president of Samsung Electro-Mechanics. On Feb. 4, Lim Woo-jae appealed against the court’s acceptance of the divorce claim filed by the chaebol scion.
Thursday afternoon, Lim Woo-jae, currently a Samsung adviser, showed up at the Seongnam Branch of Suwon District Court, Gyeonggi Province to submit a petition to appeal the case. In the petition, Lim wrote that “Until my son turned 9, from 2007 to 2015, my father and other family members had been denied access to my son.
It was not until my son turned 9 that my family members saw my son in the flesh. Nevertheless, the court granted Lee Boo-jin both the parental right and custody of my 7-year-old son. I cannot accept the court’s lopsided ruling.”
“I want to keep both my marriage and my son.” As regards property division, Lim mentioned, “I’ve never thought about it because I just want to keep my family together.”
