Samsung Technology Forum 2009 was held at Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) research center from Nov. 17 to 20, 2009

In a recent technology forum, Samsung introduced four prosperous technologies in the future: bio/health, energy/environment, new material/element, and future IT. The new technologies will be immersed in our life or industry, and expected to transform movie life into real life experience.

First, in bio/health sector, health and medical projects for those over 60 is the company's utmost interest.  Considering the prevalent global aging trend, Samsung will develop the bio/health industry in a new direction. It expects that global aging which has prevailed in developed countries will create new market demand.  During the forum, Samsung presented human gene analysis technology and U-health technology, which monitors people's health at remote locations. Samsung revealed the ambition to take responsibility for the world's health by applying the strength of its IT technology to the medical sector.

In the energy/environment sector, new reproduction and alternative energy attracted attention.  This interest comes from the concern that alternative batteries, which have been creating enormous demand for electrical devices, will be replaced at some point in the future.  Samsung analyzes that demand for new alternative energy and environmental technology is increasing.

Samsung has high interest in alternative energy involving electric car batteries and solar batteries, which car companies have recently been developing for the next generation car market.  The company also focuses on the environmentally-friendly technologies including zero-energy houses and water care.  It also selected an environmentally-friendly LNG carrier for the next generation technology expecting to create high added value return.

In the new material/element field, revolutionary technologies such as oxidized semiconductors and next generation OLED have caught the company's attention.  Samsung displayed promising future technologies such as its most efficient thermoelectric material and the new graphene technology.  The technology can be applied to conformational displays, which were written about recently in the magazine Nature.  Graphene technology has caught the spotlight, because it moves electrons more than 10 times faster than silicon semiconductors. People evaluate that graphene can perform more than 100 times more efficiently than short crystal semiconductors.

In future of IT, numerous revolutionary technologies which replace older technologies have emerged.  The new ones will likely overthrow the current market spectrum.  Samsung introduced 3D picture technology, used to watch 3D films while wearing specialized glasses.  It also presented a wireless electrical technology that can send electricity to individual houses and industries.  As people worldwide send data through networks, others are developing the electrical wireless transmission technology that can send electricity through network.
