Invenia, Korea's semiconductor equipment supplier, announced on March 31 that it signed a supply deal with China's BOE Technology for 10.5th-generation panel manufacturing equipment.
The deal is estimated at 52.3 billion won and will last until January 2018.
This is the fifth contract for Invenia to sign a supply agreement with domestic or international clients this year. It has reached a cumulative order volume of 150 billion won in the first quarter of this year by winning a series of orders from Chinese display panel makers such as HKC, BOE and LGD.
Since moving into the display equipment industry by developing the dry etching process equipment on its own in 2001, the former LIG Group company has mass-produced core processing devices for LCD and OLED production lines. The latest order from BOE is for the 10.5th-generation display panel production equipment to be built in Hefei. The size of the display substrate is larger than that of the 10th-generation substrate produced by Japan's Sharp at 3,370 x 2,940 mm.
A company official said, "With the launch of BOE's latest-generation display panels, we expect other panel makers in Korea and China to boost investment and this will create further demand for us."
