Mirae Asset Daewoo said that Park Hyeon-joo, chairman of Mirae Asset Group, took office as chief of Mirae Asset Daewoo on May 13.
Chairman Park plans to get directly involved in the management of Mirae Asset Daewoo, created by the merging of Mirae Asset Securities and Mirae Asset Daewoo Securities, to take Mirae Asset Financial Group to new heights.
“The merger between the two brokerage units will form a large investment bank that moves beyond Asia to become the No.1 in the global market. Let’s become a company that makes people’s post-retirement life happier by reinforcing our global competitiveness,” chairman Park said at a strategy meeting held before he took the helm of Mirae Asset Daewoo.
The iconic, self-made financier Park Hyeon-joo has been spearheading the financial industry: he founded Mirae Asset in 1997 and expanded into the securities and insurance businesses.
