i-Station Making Huge Hit in 3D Movie Market

i-Station presented its first three-dimensional (3D) glasses in the beginning of 2007 and the company's sales have skyrocketed within 2 years by more than 200 times. Following the release of many 3D movies, the company is expecting to sell more than 30 million of its 3D glasses. On top of that they are looking at a stable growth of their company.

The i-Station is a fast-growing company that specializes in new technology. The company was first founded in 1999 as a mobile multimedia corporation and was listed on KOSDAQ in 2002. i-Station is an integrated convergence company that promises to their customers that they will show only the newest technology that keeps pace with the growing IT industry. The company's founder is Kim Tae-sup. Many noted newspapers and media channels have called on this company's attention on the 8th for selling 10 million 3D glasses.

3D glasses give an effective 3 dimensional effect by separating the left and right image. They look like simple glasses but it really has an intricate mechanism behind them. I-station has exclusively supplied their 3D glasses from a general 3D technique-equipment. In some countries, less than dollar 3D glasses are disposable after one-time use because of the assumption that they cause the spread of H1N1 virus, raise doubts of sanitation.

The Nightmare before Christmas is in 3D

The company raised huge profit by the start of 2007 after the introduction of the movie "Night before Christmas." Since this movie was shown in Korea by 3D effects, the company claims that they sold 46,100 3D glasses on 2007 and more by 2008 of 698,050 by 15 times. This year, they proudly showed that they supplied approximately 9 million to CGV, Korea's movie theater. This displays i-station's technological prowess of 3D glasses in the global 3D industry. I-station should be well noted for making a success only after 30 months of developing its own technology-based 3D glasses. Mr. Park, the founder of the company, said that he can expect an increase in 3D glasses. Generally, they cost less than a dollar, however, with the increase of 3D movies showing on theaters and to be in proportion to the viewers, the price have to go up by 3 to 4 times each year. He continued saying that 3D glasses' demand will surge when 3D windows technology enters into our home television.

Few days ago, the Broadcasting and Communication Committee has announced that they will bring in 3D broadcasting into Korea following Japan. One survey in the United States researched about the trend of 3D glasses' demand. On the basis of their domestic movie theaters, they set up an invariable that per 1 screen, there are 3000 viewers and as far as 20 movies being released each year, the demand of 3D glasses is 60 million. This number predicts that, globally, there will be a demand of more than 200 million 3D glasses. In the moment, i-station mentioned that in the first half of the year they have already received an order of fifteen million. Moreover, they are planning to expand its manufacturing factory located in Chungbook to increase their second 3D producing lines by 3 times compared to the previous.
