Amid uncertainties over economic turnaround in 2009, inkjet products that are housed with Bluetooth and wireless lan have kept a steady growth since 2008.
Recently, wireless products are replacing wired products and penetrating into the market. Likewise, the overall trend among many corporations are leaning towards wireless products, where its' portfolios promote only the wireless.
There were barely ten kinds of inkjet products with 802.11g/n capacity. Then again, its' number increased to twenty in 2007 and another ten were released into the market in 2008. And 90 percent of them are combination inkjet printers. IDC calculates a three percent decrease of the inkjet market; there is a 30 percent growth in wireless inkjet printers and combination printers during that same period. When probing into each product's progress, wireless inkjet printers demand will record a seven percent annual growth. And by 2013, wireless portfolios will be dominate by 80 percent of the overall inkjet printers. More specifically, low-price products are expected to increase by two-digits by 2013 and procure 65 percent market share of wireless inkjet printers. On the other hand, quite expensive products that cost over US$300 will be targeted towards corporate consumers such as the SMB.
The Motive behind the growth of wireless inkjet lies in the expansion of product portfolios, reduction in the product's price, spreading of the overall choice in wireless printers, and the trend towards home wireless network.
IT manufacturers lowering the price for various gadgets will directly lead to a cut in wireless printers' cost. Thus, one can expect that wireless printers are not so hard to attain. As communications and wireless applications play a pivotal role and affect the company's purchasing decision, the corporate printing landscape will slowly change. Also widespread use of notebooks and wireless lan at home will further encourage the consumers to choose wireless network. On top of that, Apple's iphone will rejuvenate the communications market and provide growth in 3G devices that are housed with VoIP technology. Besides, home wireless router market seems to pave the way for the growth of wireless printers and it is expected to grow 33 percent by 2013.
