Wen Jiabao, Chinese Premier, visited the Central People's Government web site and the Xin Hua web site on February 27, the day before holding the National People's Congress and Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
At the meeting a reporter asked Wen Jiabao, why are books important Wen Jiabao answered the reporter by saying, "Reading is related to people's lives, a book itself cannot change the world. However, a good book can change people, and people can change society. Therefore, reading is connected to self-discipline, and for the future of the state."
He continued to say, “A good book can touch people's heart. It is, however, difficult to find an instructive book. Generally, classics are considered must have books. These books have survived through the ages; many great brains have proved that these books are good books."
Wen concluded by saying, "I want to see youngsters reading books everywhere in Beijing."
