The Voice of America, a trusted source for news, published an article on March 2. The article states, “China places the responsibility for worsening of relations between China and the U.S. on Washington and hopes that the U.S. administration will respect China's interests. U.S. believes that China has become strong in the fields of economics and finance, but China has not made any political leverage.”
Niu Xinchun, a senior fellow of the Institute of American Studies, China Institute of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR), said, "American experts have started to speak up after President Obama visited China last year. Ever since Washington has realized that it hasn't gotten anything that it wants from China, which has led to some Americans becoming emotional. The staging of the top-level bilateral talks, will aim to help clear away misunderstanding and reduce friction because China feels that America has used soft measures on China. This is why they could not get what they want. But I think they react too emotionally, actually America and China have been dependent on each other. Thus, sometimes America gives or takes, and vice-versa."
