Google TV
Now, TV is becoming smarter. LED and 3D TV was just the beginning of TV evolution. Experts forecast that connected TV will make up 30 percent by 2013. With the introduction of connected TV, Google TV has unveiled its newest update at the Google I/O on May 20. It might be what all you want it to be.

Google TV will be equipped with high definition and blu-ray display provided by Sony. (Yes, Sony is teamed up with Google). Not only are they teamed with Sony, but also with Logitech, Intel and Adobe. The Google TV is able to show any content a user wants to watch. From web video, online contents, TV shows, or DVR recorded shows, Google TV can find it quicker and more efficiently with its search engine. It comes with the set top box which allows the users to connect to the internet and use it to watch TV with the Google TV service. Also, Google's own services such as Twitter, YouTube, and Google Earth will be provided.

Google brings more web features to this platform by combining third-party applications. Google TV users can purchase applications through the Android Market.

How about Apple then Apple hasn't revealed their specific plans yet. But there's no doubt that Apple is also jumping into the TV industry sooner or later. Apple already has a set box form called Apple TV. It's charming assets include Apple's iTunes and Application Store. Since Apple has dominated the smartphone market, TV makers are trying to take initiative to prevent them from dominating the TV market.

The TV industry seeks a strategy of including both Apple and Google. Samsung Electronics announced that they are going to apply their own mobile platform, Bada and other appliances to their Smart TV. This past March, Samsung opened the 'Samsung Apps' which is an open type application store to many countries in the world.

Earlier this year, LG arranged a team to work on smart TV's in the home entertainment division. Since LG recognized the importance of the content, they focused on improving content value to increase competitiveness. LG Electronics already has connections with global content providers such as YouTube, but they plan to expand across the globe.
