Everyone nowadays has access to the Delorean, a time machine, in the movie Back to the Future. Numerous grand exhibitions are thrown annually around the world to take the riders to the near future, but one with tan increasing number of visitors since the global recession happened to be the Korea Electronics Show 2009 in Ilsan, Korea.
Last October, visitors to KES 2009 first encountered a short 3D film at 3D EXPO Hall. Three months later, film Avatar was released back on the theaters in 3D version and hit the big time. Since then, the so-called 'Avatar Effect' has mesmerized many viewers to expand the number of 3D movie production. Now that the world-noted Director James Cameron is in the progress of converting 2D Titanic into 3D, the industry only after a year is no longer "futuristic" or "freshly new". Predict from the Past
Many already assume that the exhibition will mostly be filled with refinement, convergence and energy conservation. Without these three magical words, no items can be called trendy. Most of the new gadgets are refined every season as elegant versions of previous technologies with designer-created lines and aesthetic color schemes. Then through convergence, the devices which used to do one thing are now doing more and more things. These are often named the latest gadgets. And to meet the code green, the Green Technology ideal is likely to be well-represented in these new technological models.
Preview of the Upcoming KES
Filling up the vast halls with multiples of those products, however, no longer excites the consumers today. Why bother to hop on the Delorean and go out of the house to a grand exhibition when people today can check out the latest electronics online "We changed the concept of exhibition from a trade show to value chain. We will focus more on exhibiting design, research and development, contents and distribution rather than finished products themselves. We will divide the halls by theme and suggest a clear concept of each hall. Green IT, Next Generation Growth Engine, and Show in Show are the main themes we have planned for this year." Director, Francis Kang of Market and Exhibition Center at Korea Electronics Association said.
Show in Show
"KES this year is also planning to function as a marketplace to introduce cutting-edge consumer goods including small appliances. Visitors will see one-of-a-kind toasters, earphones, hair dryers, and coffee machines at our exhibition. Within the showcase of these unique consumer goods, variety of products will be a display to show 3D, digital broadcasting, u-health and convergence. This is what we are promoting as the Show in Show," Director Kang added.
Exhibitor-focused Show
Another change made in the Korea Electronics Show is that the exhibition is now exhibitor-oriented, meaning every effort and dime will be used to invite more buyers around the world. "Our number one priority at this point is to contact and invite strong potential buyers around the world. We provide air fare and accommodations for those buyers who are willing to visit KES 2010. By cutting unnecessary spending, we seek to accommodate more buyers for the exhibitors," Director Kang said.
KES 2010 will be the grand fair for the buyers where it gives them an opportunity to meet global company representatives. How easy is it for a small and medium sized company to meet the sales representative of Haier in China KES hosts global companies around the world including Haier and HUAQIANGBEI. HUAQIANGBEI is the biggest distributor in China.. Exhibitors must take full advantage of this to open the gate for exports.

"The future of the Korean IT industry has always started from KES. Last year, we showed the clear vision of Green PC Cafe and cloud computing. These are now being used as a good solution for global warming issues as well as energy saving strategy. We also displayed 3D content. 3D Avatar came out in the following January. Who would've imagined it would be possible to see the World Cup in 3D six months later In electronics market, three months may as well be a light year. KES has been consistently providing the insight into the future of consumer life. Last year, we had a five percent increase in the number of visitors. This year, we expect to host more visitors than ever before in KES's history." Director Kang said.
KES 2010 will be held from October 12-15.
