Invests US$9 million in developing domestic business solutions market by 2008 SAP Korea has announced the official opening of its local research and development (R&D) center, aiming to build a solid base for the development of domestic software in Korea. SAP Korea held an opening ceremony on January 24 for its new R&D Center in the MMAA Building, the head office of SAP Korea. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Chin Dae-je, Korea's Minister of Information and Communication, Mr. Hans- Peter Klaey, President & CEO of SAP Asia Pacific, Mr. E.N. Han, CEO of SAP Korea.

Prospects for Korea's exchange rate in 2006 and enterprises' countermeasures By Chung Young-shik Senior researcher at the Samsung Economic Research Institute. The weakening trend of the dollar has been resurfacing. In the aftermath of the weak dollar, the won-dollar exchange rate has been plunging to tripledigit figures since May 2005. The won-dollar exchange rate fell to 968 won per dollar on Jan. 25, 2006, the lowest level since Nov. 5, 1997. It is the fourth time that the dollar has showed a weak trend since 2002. In general, the dollar has kept a weak tone.
