The Ministry of Information and Communication will announce a revised law emphasizing to solve the information access gap between the haves and the have-nots. The revised law will broaden the chances for the have-nots to get access to the public web and related facilities, and to education.

The revised law will also force the public service sectors to build easy websites to which the disabled and elders can get easy access.

SearchInform Technologies has released a new version of MailSniffer 0.98.2.0 RC, a program designed to intercept all e-mail traffic on network protocol level, index the intercepted messages and conduct search through them.

An initial interception system settings manager has been added in the new version of SearchInform MailSniffer for user's convenience. It is activated when the program first runs and helps the user to set the incoming and outgoing message interception system correctly.

Samsung Electronics announced on April 26 that two chips designed for combination smart cards, in 72KB and 144KB capacities with embedded EEPROM, have been given Common Criteria (CC) certification and an Evaluation Assurance Level (EAL) 4+ rating. Samsung now satisfies the product standards used in such smart card applications as electronic passports and electronic identification, which require an extremely high level of data security.

Royal Philips Electronics announced that Silicon Hive, a venture within Philips Technology Incubator, has been spun out as an independent company as of April 16, 2007. New Venture Partners, TVM Capital and Philips have together invested US$10 million in the new company. Philips retains a minority stake. Silicon Hive provides highly innovative programmable processor IP cores for the semiconductor and consumer electronics industry.
