Seoul, Korea, 19 October 2009 - SK Telecom (NYSE:SKM, CEO & President Man-Won Jung) and Bell Labs, the research arm of Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that provides a framework for research projects in next-generation telecommunications technology.

KT, a telecom giant, will open their Show App Store, where mobile service providers and users can freely buy and sell content for mobile phones, in November.

KT is poised to make inroads into the mobile applications market based on its low data usage and registration fees. KT is expected to eventually compete with SK Telecom, which opened its own app store in early September, in the mobile applications market.

LG Telecom (LGT) announced that overseas mobile communication enterprises like Brazil, China and Chile visited LGT of Korea to study OZ, which is a wireless internet service, on September 20, 2009.

Vice President Paulo Teixeira and major officers of Vivo, the biggest mobile communication company of Brazil, visited LGT and learned about the development process, marketing strategy and service of OZ.

Seoul Semiconductor (CEO Chung Hoon Lee, www.acriche.com), a world's leading LED manufacturer, has announced that units of Z-Power LED P5-II series were applied to display visual information for public bike racks of Vélib, a public bicycle rental program in Paris. Vélib is a public bicycle rental program, which has been run since 2007 as a Paris city project.

Samsung Electronics recently posted a 35.9% market share in the second quarter of this year with their DRAM products. This surpassed the company's second quarter goal, which was set at 35%. Additionally, they say their DRAM division will reach a market share of 40% by the end of next year's 2nd quarter, possibly sooner.

LG Electronics is coming out with a new slim TV known as the OLED TV. The pictures on the screen are quite big and it is the slimmest TV on the market. This television has no backlight and does not need a source of light. These televisions weigh less than 2 kilograms and are 3 millimeters thin.

LG Electronics has demonstrated a successful LTE-CDMA handover for handsets for the first time. The demonstration was held at the Nortel R&D Center in Ottawa, Canada last week.

LG Electronics displayed uninterrupted data transmission technologies, including video downloading, web surfing, and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), using a handset it has developed.
