LG, led by Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, is fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities by presenting awards to righteous people.
LG under Koo Kwang-mo's regime is fulfilling its responsibilities by consistently presenting the “LG righteous person award,” which was created in accordance with the wishes of the late Chairman Koo Bon-moo, "Let's repay the righteous who sacrificed themselves for the sake of the nation and social justice."
According to the LG Welfare Foundation on Oct. 21, the citations and prize money are quietly delivered to the winner's livelihood spot or the police station in charge. The support process will be carried out quickly within a week to help urgent situations such as treatment.
The righteous people who received citations and prize money ranged from "uniform righteous" - 15 firefighters dedicated to the nation and society, 11 maritime police, 10 police officers and 12 soldiers - to ordinary neighbors in our society, including crane and excavator operators and service center engineers who risked their lives for unknown neighbors.
The LG Welfare Foundation presented the first “LG righteous person award” in September 2015 to reflect the will of the late Chairman Koo Bon-moo, who said, "Companies should repay the righteous who sacrificed themselves for the sake of national and social justice."
Since then, it has granted the LG righteous person award to a total of 136 righteous people, including three in 2015, 25 in 2016, 30 in 2017, 32 in 2018, 27 in 2019, and 18 this year.
LG Chairman Koo Kwang-mo is also paying keen attention to the "LG righteous person award," which was established to reflect the will of the former chairman.
Since taking office, reflecting CEO Koo Kwang-mo's intention to "get closer to society in our own way with sincerity," the scope of the award has been expanded from righteous people who sacrificed themselves for the sake of the nation and social justice to citizens who have done good deeds and service that can serve as a model for our society.
