Shinhan Vietnam Bank, the Vietnamese subsidiary of Shinhan Bank, announced on Nov. 3 that it has signed a business agreement with Vietnam-Korea Business and Investment Association (VKBIA), a major Vietnamese economic cooperation organization, in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam to strengthen business cooperation between Korea and Vietnam.

VKBIA is a Korean and Vietnamese entrepreneurs and investment association that has supported activities for exchanges and cooperation between Korea and Vietnam in various fields, including economy, trade, science and technology, culture and education, since its establishment in 2019.

Through this agreement, Shinhan Vietnam Bank plans to cooperate with VKBIA in various areas, including comprehensive cooperation with VKBIA member companies, provision of advanced financial services, and holding seminars to promote exchanges between Korea and Vietnam.

"We have reached this agreement to expand our strategy for entering into local corporate finance market while seeking various business opportunities for local companies in Vietnam," a Shinhan Vietnam Bank official said. "We will make efforts to promote economic cooperation and exchanges between Korea and Vietnam."

Meanwhile, Shinhan Vietnam Bank won the "Vietnam Prime Minister's Award" last year, the highest authority award presented by the Vietnamese government to a foreign company.

In addition, the bank has signed a business agreement with Mekong Capital, Vietnam's first private equity fund operator, to push ahead with new businesses and advance into the local investment and finance sector, and signed an MOU with Van Lang University, a major private university in Ho Chi Minh City, to actively target the millennium Z generation in Vietnam.
