LG Electronics announced on Nov. 10 that it has joined hands with world-renowned film director Michael Bay to promote "LG WING."
LG Electronics' strategic smartphone "LG Wing" appeared in the recently released trailer of the movie "Songbird." In the trailer, the characters naturally expressed the features of the product, using the swivel mode of the LG Wing to make video calls.
The Songbird is produced by Michael Bay, the world-renowned film director of the Transformers series, and directed by Adam Mason. The cast includes "Demi Moore," "K.J. Apa," and "Sophia Carson." It is one of the most anticipated films to be released this year.
The collaboration is part of the LG Wing's marketing strategy tailored to its global launch schedule. LG Electronics launched this product through Verizon, the largest U.S. mobile carrier, on October 15 and started to target global markets. Starting with the U.S., new products will be released in Germany, Italy, Spain, and Australia sequentially.
The LG Wing is a product that adds a completely different user experience to the convenience of bar-type smartphones that users are familiar with. Users can use it like a normal smartphone, but if necessary, turn the main screen clockwise to use it with a second screen that was hidden.
In the swivel mode of the LG Wing, both screens can be used as one application, or two applications can be used simultaneously.
To maximize the advantages of the form factor that only LG Wing has, LG Electronics has applied the world's first "Gimbal motion camera" function. The Gimbal is a professional device that enables stable and smooth video shooting by making movement in the opposite direction of the camera when filming with a smartphone or camera.
"Cooperation with Director Michael Bay is part of marketing activities planned for global launch of LG Wing," said Jung Soo-hun, vice president of LG Electronics' MC Overseas Sales Group. "We will actively target customers who want new changes in smartphones."
