SK Corp. announced on Nov. 15th that it has been selected as the "Industry Leader" in the multi-company group field for the second consecutive year after being included in the "DJSI World Index" in the 2020 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) evaluation for the ninth consecutive years.
SK Corp. is the first Korean company to take the top spot in the composite business group for two consecutive years.
DJSI is an index that assesses sustainability in terms of economic activities, social responsibility, and environmental management by classifying 2,500 global listed companies in 61 industrial groups based on market capitalization by S&P Dow Jones of the U.S. and RobecoSAM of Switzerland.
A complex company refers to an enterprise in which a single company operates a variety of business groups, including ICT, bio, semiconductor materials, etc., through entry into a heterogeneous industry and mergers and acquisitions.
Only the top three out of 45 combined companies, including SK Corp., Siemens and Samsung C&T, were included in the DJSI World Index.
SK Corp. is evaluated to have been recognized for its achievements such as activities to create social values and activities to innovate digital-based DBL business models.
In particular, its management internalization activities of ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) through "data and digital-based DBL business model innovation" were highly evaluated.
Ahn Seok-ho, head of the C&C Happiness Promotion Center of SK Corp., said, "We have once again established our position as an excellent global sustainable management company by being included in the DJSI World Index for nine consecutive years and being selected as an industry leader for two consecutive years.”
