S-OIL CEO Hussain A. Al Qahtani has called for disaster-free environment, saying, "Let's never compromise with safety.”
“Safety is the starting point and destination of all businesses. The survival and happiness of my family, neighbors, society, and all of them, including me and my employees, are based on safety.
We thank our executives and employees for their hard work to achieve safety value by following the procedures without exception despite the difficulties of operating the plant," said CEO Al Qahtani at a plant in Ulsan on Nov. 17.
He visited the plant to encourage executives and employees to achieve 5 million safety man-hours without a disaster. S-Oil operated the plant in a stable manner for 392 days from Oct. 22 last year to Nov. 16 with no casualties.
This is the third time since its foundation that the company has achieved a record of 5 million man-hours without a disaster.
From October last year to this month, S-Oil carried out three large-scale regular repairs, finding risk factors in advance through pre-work risk assessment and assigning responsible areas to the department in charge and outside professional safety inspectors to eliminate the risk of accidents.
Prior to the work, the company held a quarterly "Safety Town Hall Meeting" attended by CEO Al Qahtani and other top executives, and made efforts to promote safety culture in the company by establishing a safety management committee and a safety chief officer.
CEO Al Qahtani said, "Our safety value has not changed since we passed the 5-million mark without a disaster. Anyone who finds an unstable state and unstable behavior should come forward and practice safe ways together. Never compromise with safety."
