uLikekorea, a smart livestock health management company, succeeded in developing the world’s first health care service for poultry and started to focus on overseas markets.
Kim Hee-jin, CEO of uLikekorea, said on Nov. 25, “We have successfully developed the world’s first poultry health management system. We plan to first enter the Southeast Asia and Latin American markets and reach the global market later with our ICT based system. As the turnaround time for the poultry industry is short, we expect significant revenue growth in this industry.”
Kim further stated, “We have developed a system specialized for health monitoring and disease management such as the Avian Influenza. We anticipate commercially launching the product next year and will be conducting the PoC (Proof of Concept) in early 2021. Also, worldwide patents are pending.”
uLikekorea’s chicken health system will be a wearable device in the shank area and will collect temperature and activity data in real time.
The collected data will be transferred in real time to the dedicated DB and the data will be analyzed through uLikeKorea’s proprietary Artificial Intelligence system where the farmers would receive health status data for each chicken.
Kim also added that the system would not only benefit farms but can benefit nations that are struggling to deal with avian influenza infections which can cause catastrophic damage to the poultry industry.
uLikekorea also plans to enter the Brazil poultry market, the No. 4 market in the world, through PoC and will expand to Paraguay and other key Latin American markets. It also plans to enter the Vietnamese market and commercialize the poultry health management product. Kim stated, “Chickens have a very quick turnaround time and unlike the cow industry, we can approach 100 million chickens per annum which will boost our revenue.”
ICT based systems in the livestock industry has gained special attention in the industry. China, one of the largest fowl market, the giant e-commerce company JD has developed a chicken band which tracks frequency of the movement. They attempted to identify chickens that walked more than 1 million steps (which would be categorized as a healthy chicken) and developed a trade platform, but this has yet to be officially commercialized.
Kim said, “We are developing a platform system where data from healthy livestock animals that grew up through our LiveCare system can be entered and consumers can fully trace the history of their food. From the consumers’ perspective, they can track and confirm the safety of their food through a transparent trace system. The need for such system in the fowl/poultry industry is critical and we plan to be the leader in this industry with our system.”
uLikekorea is one of the few companies in the world that has over 500 million livestock specific biometric data points.
