S-OIL, along with Korea Social Welfare Council, held the "2020 Firefighter Hero Awards" at its headquarters in Gongdeok-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul on Dec. 9 and awarded 90 million won in prize money and plaque to eight firefighter heroes of the year, including the "Best Firefighter Hero."
To prevent infection of the COVID-19, the awards ceremony was held simply with only the representative winner, the "Best Firefighter Hero" in attendance.
At the awards ceremony, S-Oil, recommended by the National Fire Agency, delivered a plaque and 20 million won in prize money to fire marshal Lee Sung-ha, who was selected as the "Best Firefighter Hero," and awarded 10 million won in prize money and plaque to seven "firefighter heroes," including Kim Sang-do.
Lee Sung-ha was selected as the top firefighter hero in October by discovering smoke and flames on his way to work in Nonhyeon-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon, and extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher alone in the early stages.
S-OIL CEO Husain A. Al-Qahtani said, "I was grateful to the firefighters for their hard work at various fires and accidents, and I was worried about their safety. I am proud of S-Oil's activities to support firefighters and continue this event.”
