Global Conference ISMAR 2010 Will be held in Seoul

Mixed Reality (MR) and Augmented Reality (AR) comprise a state of art technology that reflects the latest trend in our society. MR/AR (Mixed Reality and Augmented Reality) is a term for a live direct or indirect view of a physical real world environment with elements that are augmented by virtual computer-generated imagery. Since commercialization in 2008, it has been used in the form of applications which are mounted in Smartphones. Also it allows for the creation of new types of interfaces and is useful in a variety of fields, garnering attention from academics and researchers. In addition, recent reports states that the global market value of MAR will reach USD 732 million by 2014. Applications sales, content sales and advertising are counted as revenue models.

 

Sounds interesting Then, you might want to pay attention to this event, 2010 IEE International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality (ISAMAR 2010) which will be held in COEX, Seoul, Korea from 13-16 October 2010.

The event will have workshops, tutorials, exhibitions and demonstrations. In the workshops, in-depth discussions about Mobile AR Summit, Collaborative AR, Devices that Alter Perception and other related subject will be held.

Also papers will be presented on the topics of 'Perception in AR: Issues and Solutions', Tracking, Interactive Modeling, AR for user guidance & handling interactions between reality and virtual reality, AR experiences for creative places and Experiences for services.

This year, in particular, creative applications of AR/MR will be showcased at the Nabi Art Center, and the Tracking Competition will serve as a bridge to put our technology into work for improving people's quality of life.

The organizer of ISMAR 2010 stated, "We have a high hope that there will be lots of business opportunities created through the programs we prepare for the visitors. We would like continue to foster the exchange of ideas between academics, commercials sectors, artists and the public." He added, "This upcoming event will provide an impetus for fusing the technology in other areas such as arts and social sciences."

Needless to say, it will be a great chance for academics and researchers to present and share their latest work in the area.
