FCW, the flagship product of SK IE Technology, a material business subsidiary of SK Innovation, recently won the CES 2021 Innovation Award from the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), which organizes the world's largest consumer electronics and IT fair.
SK Innovation announced on Dec. 20 that it received an innovation award in the "Wearable Technology" field in recognition of its innovative technology and design excellence through SK IE Technology's Flexible Cover Window (FCW).
Regarding the award, experts say that the SK Innovation subsidiary has served as an opportunity to prove the fruits of its "Deep Change" efforts to fundamentally change and innovate its business structure away from the existing oil and chemical industries.
SK Innovation participated in CES for the first time in the petrochemical industry since 2019 to promote such deep change performance at home and abroad, and won the Innovation Award for the first time.
FCW is the brand name of SK IE Technology's flexible display product. It is a hard-coated product that increases durability in a transparent Colorless Poly Imide (CPI) similar to a smartphone screen protection film.
SK ie technology has already finished preparing for FCW production. It began commercial operation of a plant in Jeungpyeong in North Chungcheong Province in July of this year to deliver the products for global smartphone manufacturers.
"Just as batteries that use separators produced and supplied by SK have become luxury batteries without a single fire, flexible displays that use SK FCW will also become luxury products," said Roh Jae-seok, CEO of SK ie technology.
