Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction has won a combined thermal power project worth about 620 billion won from the U.S. territory of Guam.
Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction announced on Dec. 21 that it has signed a contract with the Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) - Korea East-West Power Consortium, a project developer, to build a 200MW combined thermal power plant in Ukudu, Guam.
It is a project to build a 200MW combined thermal power plant in the Dededo region, about 5km northwest of Guam's Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport. The KEPCO and East-West Power Consortium was selected as the developer after being ordered by the Guam Power Authority (GPA).
Doosan Heavy Industries will complete the plant by 2024 under the EPC method, which will carry out the entire process from design to equipment supply, installation, and test operation.
In particular, based on Doosan Heavy Industries' original technology, it plans to install a 25MW energy storage system (ESS) together to enable a stable power supply. Upon completion, it will be the largest baseload power plant that accounts for about 40% of the power system in Guam.
Park In-won, head of Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Plant EPC BG, said, "We will do our best to make sure that both developer and EPC businesses are excellent examples of overseas expansion."
