LG Display announced on Jan. 3 that it will unveil '48-inch 'Cinematic Sound OLED (CSO) Panel' optimized for gaming at CES 2021, the world's largest IT and home appliance exhibition to be held online on Jan. 11 (local time in the United States).

The "48-inch bendable CSO panel" is characterized by being able to freely bend and unfold the screen up to 1,000R (a bend of 1,000mm in radius) by utilizing the advantages of OLED panels that are as thin as paper.

In other words, it is used in a plane when watching TV, and can be used as a curved screen when playing games, providing a uniform viewing distance from the center of the screen to the edge to maximize visual immersion.

In addition, this product applies "CSO" technology, which vibrates the OLED panel itself without a separate speaker and makes sound directly on the screen, providing a vivid sense of reality as the users feel as if the characters on the screen are talking directly.

When it is curved, the sound is concentrated around users to maximize its effectiveness.

"48-inch bendable CSO panel" is applied with ultra-thin film CSO technology that is one step more advanced than current CSO. It has drastically reduced thickness of Exciter, a component that makes sound by vibrating OLED panels, from 9mm to 0.6mm, and has increased completion of design. It allows users to enjoy overwhelming sound even on thin screens.

OLED displays are self-luminous displays that emit light on their own. This provides clear, three-dimensional image quality and a fast response rate of 0.1ms produced by infinite contrasts of light and dark ratio.

It also provides 120 screen playback per second and a natural screen without interruption, enabling overwhelming performance in gaming.

LG Display's OLED panel is considered to be a display that considers the eye health of gamers through eye-friendly displays such as reducing blue light and receiving Flicker-Free certification from a leading global international certification agency.

"The 48-inch bendable CSO will provide gamers with a different level of gaming experience that traditional displays cannot match," said Oh Chang-ho, vice president of LG Display's TV business division.

Meanwhile, LG Display will release a teaser video on its YouTube channel on January 4.
