Pearl Abyss delivered 100 million won ($91,000) in donations to the "Doctors Without Borders" on Jan. 26 through a sharing event with users of "Black Desert" and "Black Desert Mobile."
It is an event in which users of "Black Desert" around the world purchase "the token of sharing" in silver (in-game goods) currency in the game, and Pearl Abyss will donate the amount set according to the total amount.
It was designed to allow game users to sympathize with the purpose of the donation and participate together, a company official said.
A total of 1 trillion won has been achieved in purchasing the "token of sharing", and Pearl Abyss donated 100 million won as promised.
The donations will be delivered to the borderless medical society following last year to help patients suffering from armed conflicts, epidemics and natural disasters around the world and in blind spots in medical care.
Secretary-General Thierry Coppens said, "We thank Pearl Abyss and Black Desert users for sponsoring for two consecutive years."
He added, "The sponsorship is a great help for the borderless society to provide prompt medical support where it needs most, including the Covid-19 response."
Kim Duk-young, head of HR and Culture Division at Pearl Abyss, said, "We hope this sponsorship with black desert users around the world will help many people in need of medical support."
The entire proceeds from the sales of the 2021 limited edition calendar, which was joined by mobile users of the Black Desert and Black Desert Mobile and executives and employees of Pearl Abyss, will be delivered as donations for low-income children.
Pearl Abyss is steadily carrying out sponsorship activities in places in need of help, such as sponsorship with black desert users and local communities and disaster-hit areas.
The company donated 100 million won to help recover from forest fires in Gangwon Province, 100 million won for recovery from wildfires in Australia and earthquakes in Turkey, and 500 million won to help overcome COVID-19 damage.
