BC Card announced on Feb. 5 that it has appointed Choi Won-seok, 58, CEO of Fn Pricing as its new president.
Choi is a financial and data convergence expert who developed Korea's first integrated evaluation engine for financial products by developing FnGuide, pioneering the financial information distribution industry, and establishing Fn Pricing that combines finance and IT.
In addition, after serving as an outside director of BC Card for the past six years, Choi is considered the right person to transform BC Card into a data company with a high understanding and experience of overall management.
Choi, who also has extensive experience and knowledge in various financial sectors, including banks, economic research institutes, securities firms, and asset evaluation companies, is expected to develop financial synergy with K-Bank in earnest and establish KT Group's specialized financial strategy.
An official of BC Card said, "In the past, we have established financial information distribution companies and asset evaluation companies, and we have developed the convergence of finance and IT as a key competitive company to become a leading company in the successful digital data company."
Choi said, "In the My Data era, I will combine BC Card's broad payment, commerce, financial infrastructure and KT Group's advanced AI and big data capabilities to create a consumer-oriented differentiated payment, consumption, and financial platform to continue to enhance the competitiveness of existing card businesses."
Born in 1963, he graduated from Seoul National University with a bachelor's degree in international economics, a master's degree in economics at Sogang University, and an MBA at New York University's STERN Graduate School.
BC Card will officially appoint Choi as its president after a general meeting of shareholders and a board of directors meeting next month.
