Hanwha Systems made an announcement on Feb. 18 that it will launch the intelligent thermal imaging engine module "QUANTUM RED" to target the global private market related to thermal imaging cameras.
Quantum Red is an intelligent thermal imaging engine module consisting of optical, detector, and signal processing modules.
Hanwha Systems is the second company in the world to install infrared video signal processing technology in System on Chip (SoC).
Quantum Red is able to process high-definition thermal imaging signals at high speed as it becomes smaller and lighter than conventional thermal imaging engine modules.
In addition, it can be used for various purposes such as monitoring, temperature measurement, and industrial as it can reflect detailed camera requirements such as image quality and temperature measurement range by software changes without hardware changes.
In particular, it applied for patent for TRSM (Temperature Reference Source Module) technology that is differentiated from other competitors in August last year.
Due to Quantum Red's patent technology and price competitiveness, Hanwha System can increase the reliability of temperature measurement of thermal imaging cameras for detecting human fever, which have been a problem since COVID-19.
It plans to enter various markets such as industrial sites, medical services, and smart farms, which require absolute temperature measurement.
"The Quantum Red, which will be released this time, is a high-tech product that has accumulated technology and experience related to electronic optics over the past 40 years," said Kim Yeon-chul, CEO of Hanwha Systems.
