Asiana Airlines converts two more A350 airliners into cargo planes

Asiana Airlines completed the additional renovation of two A350-900 passenger planes on Feb. 21.

Despite the COVID-19 crisis, Asiana Airlines has been increasing its transportation power by desperately trying to operate elastic cargo routes according to demand, A350 • B777 modification and temporary cargo transportation. As a result, it recorded 2.1432 trillion won (+64% year-on-on-year).
 
In order to continue this improvement in performance, Asiana Airlines plans to accelerate the maximization of cargo transportation by completing two additional A350 aircraft modifications last year.
 
As a result, the economy seat space inside the A350 will be reorganized into a cargo space to secure up to 46 tons (23 tons per flight) of transportation power, and 24 air freight pallets will be installed on the floor to transport cargo more efficiently and safely.

Asiana Airlines has strengthened its global cargo network such as Asia, North America and Europe with modified cargo planes, increased its IT, electronic equipment components, e-commerce exports, and personal protective equipment, and is fully prepared to transport various medicines.
 
"The 'innovative strategy' of converting passenger planes into cargo planes has further improved cargo transportation power," an Asiana Airlines official said. "As demand for air freight is expected to increase in the COVID-19 era, we will focus our capabilities on cargo operations and make efforts to improve performance."
 
Asiana Airlines, along with two A350 modified cargo planes, operated 849 additional flights last year, achieving 88.5 billion won in cargo sales alone.
