Nexon, which has been criticized for allegedly manipulating the "probability" of stochastic items, has decided to disclose information on all paid stochastic items in the game.
Nexon announced on March 5 through official data that it has decided to fully disclose the probability of 'paid enhancement and synthesis' information as well as paid capsule-type items that have previously disclosed the probability.
Nexon said, "The targets for disclosure are major online games and mobile games currently being serviced, and we will gradually disclose the probability of all paid probability items."
Nexon’s decision seems to be an attempt to calm the controversy and resolve distrust by making a forward-looking decision after facing strong opposition from users.
Existing domestic game companies have disclosed probability-type item information under the industry's self-regulation, but only the probability of picking random box items purchased for a fee has been revealed.
Recently, however, it has been criticized that there are many possibilities for strengthening items such as weapons and armor in games, but information on them has not been disclosed.
The reason why Nexon is paying attention to its response is because of the controversy that erupted in its game Maple Story.
Nexon recently announced that it would modify the additional options it had given to the item to the "same probability" while updating Maple Story, but it faced criticism that it means that the probabilities have not been the same so far.
Users have been pressuring Nexon by setting a "zero-won limit challenge" that sets the payment limit to zero won to show their willingness not to spend any more money on Nexon games, and moving collectively to other companies’ games such as "Lost Ark."
