S-Oil, led by CEO Hussain A. Al-Qahtani, announced on March 10 that it will establish a roadmap for digital transformation and set up a digital factory, digital marketing, and smart work environment by 2023.
S-Oil is planning to select 11 tasks to be applied to factories and establish a comprehensive digital solution that integrates and manages all areas of factories such as production, safety, maintenance, and quality control.
The company expects to use big data and artificial intelligence to comprehensively monitor the factory situation and improve efficiency and productivity through data-based decision making.
"We will use big data and artificial intelligence (AI) to monitor overall factory situations and improve efficiency and productivity through data-based decision making." said an official from S-Oil.
It has decided to actively utilize drone inspection system that was introduced in 2019 and proved to be effective. The drone will inspect upper facilities that are difficult for people to access, and the person in charge will analyze the footage and use it for repair and maintenance.
S-OIL is also going to increase efficiency of its work through digital transformation. S-Oil introduced business collaboration tools to promote collaboration and communication last year and prepared a foundation for smart work environment.
The official said, “The business automation system (RPA) has been applied on a trial basis to simple repetitive tasks in the sales, financial and purchasing sectors, and business support chatbot has been established.”
"Digital transformation is not a choice but a prerequisite for survival and differentiation. We will invest all resources and capabilities to drive digital transformation as quickly as possible and fundamentally improve the company's performance to achieve Vision 2030," said S-OIL CEO Al-Qahtani.
