BAT Korea published its 2020 ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) report on March 12 and announced its plan to expand the scope of emissions reduction to the entire business sector and realize carbon neutrality within all businesses by 2050.
As its existing goal of recycling water resources is achieved earlier than scheduled, BAT Korea has set a new goal of recycling 30% of water resources by 2025.
BAT Korea plans to reduce carbon emissions by introducing solar power facilities in its manufacturing plant in Sacheon, South Gyeongsang Province. It is also planning to continue to invest in facilities that recycle wastewater from factories.
"We plan to come up with eco-friendly measures to reduce the impact on the environment throughout the production and distribution of products," said an official from BAT Korea.
In addition, BAT Korea operates a "one-parent family self-reliance support project" with the youth talent development campaign "Dudream" and the Korean Social Welfare Association to contribute to society. In addition, it has formed partnerships with various domestic NGOs to actively help underprivileged neighbors.
In this ESG report, BAT Group announced its plan to continue its efforts to protect the environment by promoting cooperation with business partners in a way that does not affect climate change and encouraging tobacco farmers to reduce carbon generation.
"We are in the midst of an important change, and we are making all-out efforts to make BAT a future-oriented company," said Jack Bowles, CEO of BAT Group. "We will continue to make efforts to realize more expanded ESG goals across all areas."
