LG Display President Chung Ho-young took office as the 8th chairman of the Korea Display Industry Association.
The Korea Display Industry Association (KDIA) held a regular general meeting in 2021 in a non-face-to-face manner.
At the regular general meeting, KDIA appointed Chung Ho-young, president of LG Display, as its eighth chairman and appointed other executives. In addition, it approved its business performance in 2020 and its plan to promote its business in 2021.
"I have become a representative of the association that serves as the center of the Korea display industry," the new chairman Chung Ho-young said in his inaugural address sent to the member companies on March 15. "I will do my best to develop the display industry based on mutual trust and cooperation from all member companies."
"While the Korean display industry is facing various challenges, new opportunities and possibilities are opening," Chairman Chung said. "In order to preempt the market and solidify global leadership in this crisis and opportunities, Korea should lead the 'next-generation technology innovation'."
"KDIA will firmly establish an industrial ecosystem with the government and industry-academic cooperation in the future and focus our capabilities on the four mid- to long-term development tasks of the association," he said.
Meanwhile, this year, the association decided to strengthen technology of material, parts and equipment manufacturers and strive to make them self-reliant.
It also decided to foster experts in display industries and accelerate the realization of green displays and work with other industries to expand the industry.
