It was long journey of debate over white space. There were numerous legal and technical issues regarding unlicensed spectrum usage. But finally FCC (The Federal Communications Commission) has approved rules for how the spectrum will be used.
'White Space' a.k.a 'super Wi-Fi' are unused, unlicensed frequencies. The spaces which exist among TV bands have faster speeds, valuable propagation features and penetrate walls easily. Now the spectrum will be available for use. This new unlicensed space is expected to be a powerful platform for innovation.
Super Wi-Fi has the potential to cover areas 16 times larger than traditional Wi-Fi with its strong and reliable signal.
