The tentatively named Korea energy engineering college’s school corporation, led by Chairman Kim Jong-gap, announced on April 22 that it has selected the university’s English name as Korea Institute of Energy Technology (KENTECH) at the first board of directors’ meeting held on April 20.
KENTECH is a combination of K(Korea)+EN(energy)+TECH(nology) that intuitively expresses the identity of Korea energy engineering, a research-oriented college in the field of energy science and technology.
A school official explained that the new school name is expected to have a positive impact on raising global awareness and establishing an image of the college in the future due to its excellent memory and easy pronunciation and university symbolism.
Meanwhile, the related bill passed the plenary session of the National Assembly on March 24, and the college's opening was formalized in March 2022, and the school corporation is speeding up preparations for
the opening.
Currently, campus construction and teacher selection procedures are under way to secure core facilities, and recruitment screening will be announced in May to recruit students.
