KB Financial Group signed a business agreement with Gwanak-gu, Seoul, and Seoul National University on May 3 to revitalize the “ecosystem of venture and start-ups in Gwanak-gu, Seoul,” and seek mutual cooperation to discover and foster outstanding start-ups.
KB Kookmin Bank CEO Huh In, Seoul National University President Oh Se-jeong and Gwanak-gu District Mayor Park Joon-hee attended the signing ceremony.
With this agreement, KB Financial will push to establish the second support center, "Kwanak KB Innovation HUB," in Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, following a startup collaboration space in Gangnam, Seoul.
Currently, 130 pyeong of space is secured and interior construction is underway with the goal of opening in June.
Gwanak KB Innovation HUB will support startups by focusing on the win-win development of communities and the establishment of mutual cooperation systems such as knowledge and research resource sharing through support for early venture and start-up infrastructure in the region.
As a result, it plans to select early startups within three years of establishment with high originality, innovation and growth potential in various fields as well as fintech, and provide selected companies with a one-year occupancy space.
It also plans to establish an organic cooperation system with venture and start-up support ecosystem participating institutions in Gwanak-gu, including Seoul National University, to foster innovative companies that utilize excellent human and material resources to enhance social value.
