LG Display has once again been recognized for its OLED technology by SID (Society for Information Display).
LG Display made an announcement on May 12 that its '65-inch Rollable OLED TV' won the 'Display of the Year' award at 'SID 2021', which will be held online from May 17 to 21.
SID is the world's largest display society with more than 6,000 experts, researchers, and professors in the display industry worldwide. Every year, new technologies and products are exhibited and research papers are presented.
The "Display of the Year" award is the highest honor presented by SID, which selects and awards the most innovative product that will lead the future of the display industry from the display products released last year.
The 65-inch Rollable OLED TV is a spontaneous light display that does not require a backlight, so it has the advantage of being able to have an innovative design that allows panels to be rolled into a circle into the main body.
This is seen as a product that changed the paradigm of displays and showed infinite expansion potential of OLEDs that can be used in various industries such as automobiles and aircraft with a new concept of form factor innovation that was impossible with existing TVs.
"LG Display will continue to research and develop innovative and differentiated OLED technologies to expand markets and make OLED trend more popular by creating new values," said Yoon Soo-young, executive director of LG Display's CTO.
Meanwhile, LG Display is leading OLED markets by consistently recognizing its differentiated OLED technology by winning 'Display of the Year' award with '65-inch Wallpaper OLED TV' in 2017 and 'Display Application of the Year' in 2018 with 'Crystal Sound OLED'.
