Pearl Abyss acquires Factorial Games famous for 'Lost Kingdom'

Pearl Abyss announced on May 24 that it has acquired "Factorial Games," a mobile game developer famous for "Lost Kingdom."

The total acquisition amount is worth 20 billion won in the form of purchasing 100% of the shares of Factory Games from companies such as 4:33 Creative Lab.

Factory Games is a new game developer founded in 2014 and recognized for its mobile game development capabilities in 2016 with the success of Mobile RPG Lost Kingdom.

Prior to the launch of the mobile RPG "Superstring", Pearl Abyss is currently offering free-booking for the game. Superstring is a game in which the main characters of various popular webtoons appear in a single worldview.

The company is also co-developing its new game "Project J" with SquareNix, a renowned Japanese game company.

"We are going to take over the game development capabilities of Factory Games because we are highly evaluating its' game development capabilities," said Kim Kyung-yeop, general manager of investment strategy at Pearl Abyss. "Through this acquisition, Pearl Abyss will further strengthen its portfolio in terms of genre and IP diversity in addition to  the black desert online and new works under development."
