- Canadian companies, "We want technology cooperation with Korean companies" -
[Vancouver] KOTRA will be holding a '2021 Korea-Canada Smart Factory Partnering Briefing and Consultation Conference' from the 24th to support companies in the smart factory field to enter overseas markets. The event aims to promote joint R&D, technology cooperation and parts supply through mutual exchanges between companies of the two countries in the wake of the smart factory era, which has raised interest due to COVID-19. In addition, the global smart factory market is expected to grow rapidly to a CAGR of 9.8%, reaching $244.8 billion by 2024.
The event, co-hosted by the Canadian government in British Columbia and KOTRA, will consist of a smart factory briefing session and a one-on-one video consultation session. The briefing session will begin with the presentation of the smart factory policy, market status, and government support programs by the Minister of International Trade, BC, and will be held under the theme of smart factory status and successful cases in both countries.
In particular, Canada traditionally has many companies with software technologies such as AI and big data, and South Korea has many companies with hardware technologies such as product manufacturing and robots, so demand for technology exchanges between the two countries is increasing. Reflecting this demand, the company will also support follow-up consultations for joint R&D and technology exchanges for about three weeks from the 28th, when the briefing session is completed.
Jihyung Lee, head of the North American Head Office at KOTRA said, "We hope that this event will serve as a venue for exchanges between South Korean and Canadian companies to discuss technology cooperation, joint R&D, and lead innovation through cooperation."
