Cheong Wa Dae commenced its first real-time online briefing for an official meeting targeting ordinary Internet users through its social networking service on September 29.
The presidential office posted the messages of the 72nd meeting on national economic affairs to its Twitter account, where people could respond instantaneously with comments and questions.
Cheong Wa Dae's cyber spokesman delivered the President's answers and posted the agenda of the meeting to the Twitter account. Officials from related ministries, including the Ministry of Knowledge Economy and the Fair Trade Commission, also answered questions from internet users who posted questions to Cheong Wa Dae's Twitter account.
This is the first time that Cheong Wa Dae has held a real-time online briefing using their Twitter account. Recently, the President ordered his aides to look for measures to expand channels of communication, in order to boost citizen understanding of national policy.
Those who used Cheong Wa Dae’s online real-time briefing system welcomed the service by saying that it helped them understand government policies better, and that they hoped such services can be expanded in the near future.
Meanwhile, Cheong Wa Dae plans to review ways to expand the real-time online briefing service to key functions if responses continue to be favorable.
