Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction announced on July 6 that it had built the Navy's second large carrier, the Marado-class amphibious assault ship (ROKS Marado).
Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction proved its unrivaled competitiveness in the battleship sector by successfully delivering the nation's first large carrier, the Dokdo-class amphibious assault ship (ROKS Dokdo), and the second ship, the ROKS Marado.
Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction has designed and built state-of-the-art carriers such as Landing Transport Helicopter (LPH), Landing Ship Fast (LSF), and Patrol Killer eXperimental (PKX) for more than 50 years since it was designated as Korea's first domestic defense company in 1974.
Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction has built more than 1,000 carriers, the largest in Korea.
The ROKS Marado, delivered to the Navy by Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction, is a 14,500-ton large carrier. It is the command ship of the landing task force, which is based on the transport of troops and equipment for landing operations.
The Navy expects to improve operational capabilities and operate the fleet efficiently as it secures ROKS Dokdo and ROKS Marado.
"ROKS Marado is the fruit of Korean people's willingness to defend our country through Hanjin Heavy Industries' shipbuilding technology," said an official of Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction.
