Genesis, Hyundai Motor's first independent brand, announced on July 7 that it launched "G80 electric sedan (G80)", the first luxury electric vehicle under its independent Genesis brand.
The G80 equipped with a high-power and high-efficiency electric power (PE) system and All Electric Range (AER) that is equivalent to a dedicated electric vehicle.
The G80, available with all-wheel drive, is capable of producing up to 370 horsepower and can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.
The G80 equipped with an 87.2 kilowatt-hour battery can travel up to 427 kilometers on a single charge. A rapid charging system has been applied to allow the vehicle to be charged up to 80 percent in 22 minutes.
Safety is enhanced by applying sub-frame that disperses energy that occurs during accidental collision. Solar Roof, which uses solar energy to charge batteries for vehicles, is also applied as an option. Drivers can generate an average of 730 watt-hours of electricity per day by charging from Solar Roof.
The G80 electric sedan is priced at 82.8 million won (US$72,860) in Korean market.
"Genesis will present new standards for luxury electric vehicles through the G80 electric sedan," said a Genesis official.
Meanwhile, In the first half, Genesis vehicle sales jumped 33 percent to 72,710 units in Korean market from 48,886 units a year earlier.
