SK Telecom has released a cloud-based smart factory AI service that can smartly manage compressors, which are widely used in factories across the manufacturing sector.
SKT announced on July 13 that it signed a business agreement with Sungshin Compressor and Soltech System to commercialize Smart Compressor on July 12.
The three companies pushed for this cooperation to introduce AI and cloud technologies to improve the operation and maintenance process of factories using compressors.
This is the first case of commercialization since SKT's launch of Metatron Grandview (Grandview), a cloud-based AI smart factory service.
SKT will customize the Grandview solution to the compressor produced by Sungshin Compressor and launch it in September.
A compressor is a machine that increases pressure by receiving power from power generators such as electric motors and turbines. It is widely used throughout the factory's manufacturing process.
The smart compressor is expected to enable real-time monitoring of facility information, alarm for failure of the facility, remote control, and AI-based foresight maintenance functions of the facility.
The service will be released as a monthly subscription service. It is predicted that factories that use services will greatly reduce burdens on initial construction costs.
"This cooperation applied cloud and AI technologies to compressors that are widely used in manufacturing sites and commercialized them as subscription services for small and medium-sized businesses," said Choi Nak-hoon, head of SK Telecom's Smart Factory. "SKT will continue to do its best to introduce new services at industrial sites through ICT technologies such as 5G, Cloud, and AI."
