-Exploring the possibility of hydrogen collaboration between Korea and Canada in the era of climate change-

[Vancouver] The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Canada (Ambassador, Keung Ryong Chang) will hold the 'Korea-Canada Energy Forum 2021' on July 20th (Tuesday) at 7 pm (EST) online co-organizing with KOTRA Vancouver to explore ways to cooperate on the topic of hydrogen.

In the contrast to global climate change, Korea and Canada have established and implemented active greenhouse gas reduction policies aimed at carbon neutrality by 2050. In particular, it is investing each country with a great interest in converting energy from existing fossil fuels to clean fuels. Hydrogen is also alternative energy that has been spotlighted as a next-generation clean fuel and both Korea and Canada are paying attention to the ripple effect of hydrogen and announcing a national hydrogen strategy by intensively promoting it. In accord with this, each key role enterprise from both countries is reinforcing investment and actively seeking collaboration in the hydrogen sector.

This year, the Korea-Canadian Energy Forum has selected hydrogen as a theme to reflect the high interest of both countries in the sector while Mollie Johnson, Assistant Deputy Minister of Natural Resources Canada, and Jaedo Moon, a Chairman of the H2Korea will deliver congratulatory speeches. In addition, industry experts and stakeholders from both Canada and Korea are invited as speakers to express each stage of hydrogen policy, production, transportation, storage, utilization, and investment, and possible collaborations on the hydrogen ecosystem between Korea and Canada.
