Hyundai Elevator and LG Electronics announced on August 22 that they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for robot interworking and smart building solution projects at LG Science Park in Gangseo-gu on August 20.
Through this agreement, the two companies will promote smart building solution business that connects elevators, self-driving robots, home network systems, and technical cooperation that combines LG Electronics' signage prior technologies.
The signing ceremony was attended by major officials from two companies, including Song Seung-bong, CEO of Hyundai Elevator, and Kwon Soon-hwang, head of BS Division (CEO) at LG Electronics.

By automatically recognizing information of visitors, it is rapidly expanding its scope to various fields, including elevator calls, parking location confirmation, door opening, home automation, delivery through linkage with service robots, and concierge services.
"The convergence of the elevator Open Application Programming Interface(API), LG Electronics' self-driving robots, and smart building solutions will create synergy in various areas such as apartments, hotels, and buildings," said Song Seung-bong, CEO of Hyundai Elevator. "The two companies will open up a new market called 'Vertical e-Mobility' together in the future."
"Through collaboration in business areas such as robots, signage, and home/building solutions, we will find valuable services in various spaces and provide differentiated experiences to customers," said Kwon Soon-hwang, head of BS Division at LG Electronics.
Based on this MOU, Hyundai Elevator is planning to develop an elevator open API that can be connected with various applications, while also launching premium elevators that can produce various spaces and digital experience by combining signage prior technologies such as OLEDs.
