Korean Air announced on Oct. 5 that it won the "Airbus A220 Best Operational Excellence 2021" at the IATA Annual Meeting hosted by IATA in Boston, the U.S., on Oct. 4 (local time).
This means that Korean Air was selected as the first airline in the world to operate Airbus' A220 aircraft most perfectly.
Airbus comprehensively evaluates and announces the best operating airline every two years for its production model, and this year is the first time that it has selected the best operating airline for the A220 model.
Korean Air's A220 model recorded a 99.63% on-time rate, the highest among airlines in the world, from August 2020 to July this year. The global average on-time flight rate for A220 aircraft is about 99%.
There are currently 174 A220 aircraft operating by 11 airlines, and Korean Air has been operating a total of 10 aircraft since it first introduced the A220 aircraft in 2017.
