UMCLASS offers a customized matching service from a collection of one-day class content

Starting February this year, UMCLASS, which provides leisure and hobby content, is actively promoting its motto "The joy of one-day classes".

According to UMCLASS’s 2021 data, until September this year, it has been establishing a strong foundation with an accumulated transaction amount of KRW 190 million won from creating content along with talented local creators in areas such as baking classes for macarons and cookies, leather making workshops for creating airpod cases and credit card wallets.

Especially with 2035 accumulated teachers and 1887 accumulated classes, they are growing to be large players in the industry.

“The company first launched the dance studio mediation platform ‘Movement’ and is currently operating two ballet studios,” said UMCLASS CEO Kim Seong-jun. “We also confirmed the growth of the leisure and hobby industry through market verification.”

“Various factors fell into place such as an affordable price, the MZ generation who value firsthand experience, and fulfilling the desire for self-improvement and hobby desires," continued CEO Kim. “As a result, the company name was changed to UMCLASS and reborn as the current one-day class tourism content service.”

UMCLASS is a platform that gives another competitive strength to local creators who are small local businesses. CEO Kim as a local small business owner is helping them find how to commercially approach the market based on his experience.

Recently with the growth of the one-day class market, various services have been emerging. As UMCLASS is not a first leader but a follower, it decided to differentiate itself by making the one-day class into tourism content.

“Although overseas travel has been limited due to COVID-19, people's demand for travel has turned to domestic travel,” said CEO Kim. “However, domestic travel-related content is limited to famous restaurants, tourist attractions, and coffee shops.” 

“For this reason, UMCLASS has created a platform that provides a marketplace where more local creators can participate in one-day classes to introduce their talents and turn their products into souvenirs and merchandise,” he added.

“We are planning a course where you can spend the best day by planning the 'Fill your day' program where you can experience food, attractions and one-day classes from various regions,” continued CEO Kim. “This platform will allow all creators from regions where their products and talents are unknown due to financial limitations or lack of ability to run a business, become teachers and fuse their content”

Meanwhile, UMCLASS was selected as a tourism venture company from a contest by the Korea Tourism Agency in 2020 under the certainty that the talented one-day classes provided by local creators is an appropriate experience content.

Last June it was recognized as a promising startup and was selected for the ‘2021 Y&Navigator 2nd Batch’ accelerator program hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization, and operated by Y&Archer. Through this program, it received support such as customized mentorship, startup education and networking, investment referrals, and Y&LAB (market validation test).
