LG U+ received the Corporate Hall of Fame Award at the 27th ITS World Congress held in Hamburg Messe, Germany from October 11th to October 15th.
The ITS World Congress is the most prestigious exhibition and academic conference in the field of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS).
It is held every year in major cities on three continents: the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, and 15,000 people from 100 countries around the world participated.
The Hall of Fame awards are selected by the board of directors of the ITS World Congress for each of the three continents based on their evaluation of technological development, execution ability, and future leadership.
LG U+, which is carrying out the largest ITS construction project in Korea in Gangneung city, South Korea, was awarded in recognition of its contribution to developing innovative ITS systems and services and playing a leading role in the international ITS community.
It is the second award for a Korean company after the Korea Expressway Corporation in 2014 and the first for a private company.
Gangneung city also received the Asia-Pacific Regional Local Government Achievement Award at this general meeting, thereby recognizing South Korea's public and private ITS capabilities.
LG U+ participated in the Korea Pavilion exhibition together with Gangneung City at this World Congress.
"Last June, LG Uplus won an order to build an ITS infrastructure in Gangneung city with a total project cost of 45 billion won," said Cho Won-seok, head of LG U+'s new corporate business group. "With the award as an opportunity, we will make every effort to successfully hold the ITS World Congress in 2026 with Gangneung City."
