Samsung Engineering succeeded in producing the first steel frame through smart robot automation.
On October 27, Samsung Engineering announced that it had a prototype shipment ceremony at its Smart Steel Shop.
The shipment ceremony, which was held at the manufacturing plant in Sacheon-si, Gyeongnam on October 26, was attended by Rep. Ha Young-je, Gyeongsangnam-do Economic Deputy Governor Park Jong-won, Sacheon Mayor Song Do-geun, Samsung Engineering President Choi Seong-an, Hyundai Robotics CEO Kang Cheol-ho, and Chungwoo Heavy Industries CEO Heo Chul-ok.
Samsung Engineering and Hyundai Robotics signed a business agreement for the automation of steel frame production in December of last year, and focused on development, and completed the development of automation equipment in July. The companies shipped their first products this time after a trial run period including performance tests.
The shipped steel products are planned to be supplied to major projects Samsung Engineering is carrying out.
With this automation, Samsung Engineering's full automation of steel frame production is also closer.
Samsung Engineering succeeded in 3D automation of drawings and assembly and welding process automation of plates and beams this time (step 1).
The automation of the processing (perforation, cutting, improvement) and expansion of production facilities (step 2), which are the preceding processes, will be completed within the first half of next year to complete the automation of the entire steel frame manufacturing process.
Samsung Engineering also plans to secure stable profits through commercialization of robot automation technology.
A Samsung Engineering official said, "We will continue to strengthen our global competitiveness through robot automation and digital innovation."
