The Zero Emissions Hospital 2030: Havelhöhe Hospital, Berlin, Germany
The Zero Emissions Hospital for 2030 is an intensive inquiry into how hospitals have been contributing to climate change and how they can be converted to significantly minimize emissions. Dr. Christian Grah, a pulmonologist, and director of the hospital talks with me in this in-person interview in October 2021 in Berlin. We discuss a range of topics including energy, waste, chemicals, transportation, food, and our health. These areas are part of the integral program to meet climate duties and supersede certain requirements found in the Sustainability Development Goals. Dr. Grah says that climate change is a medical emergency and the slogan of the movement is ‘Health for Future’. “The Havelhöhe Community Hospital in Berlin is an acute care hospital with 400 beds. It is one of the three major acute anthroposophic hospitals in Germany that offers not only modern emergency medicine for the regional population but also the additional treatment possibilities of Anthroposophic Medicine”
