Winnoi announced on Nov. 17 that it will launch its deep learning based at-home dental checkup app "DENPIC".
DENPIC is a dental management solution where users can self check and log whether they have cavities, if they are brushing their teeth correctly, and if their braces are working.
“DENPIC consists of an oral camera to easily take a picture inside your mouth, and a deep learning based analysis service,” said CEO Lee Myeong Woo. “With DENPIC, patients don’t have to go to the dentist and can do a self checkup and they can store and manage the data themselves.”
Currently a patent has been submitted and they are in the final stages for testing the oral camera for launch.
According to the Ministry of Health, the inspection rate for a regular checkup is 76.9 percent but the inspection rate for dental checkups is 31.2 percent, which is significantly lower.
DENPIC can improve the accessibility and raise awareness of dental health and also reduce medical expenses by finding diseases earlier.
“DENPIC was developed with a goal to protect dental health and provide a dental solution that can be trusted and is convenient,” said Lee. “Our team has experts such as dental alignment and medical big data video SW experts so we can implement a more accurate and convenient service.”
Before its commercial launch, Winnoi participated in the Global IR Project in September run by the Yonsei University Campustown Center to raise investment.
“We want to promote DENPIC through the Global IR Project and have a strong start for our business,” said Lee. “We see stronger potential in the global market where medical accessibility is low.”
Winnoi is planning to gain profit by selling products and licensing in the short term, and expanding to selling data in the long run.
“Photos and video taken by the oral camera can aid price quotes and support patient management, and also developing insurance products,” said Lee. “We will also set up a data platform by creating a user cohort database with the data we have.”
